Basic information

Dear fans and festivalgoers,

There are exactly two weeks to go before the start of the 34th international Druga Godba festival, which takes place from 24 to 26 May in Piran and Ljubljana.

A core of music and a rich series of supporting events

As always, the Druga Godba festival will have performance at its core, playing host this year to 15 weird, wonderful and always surprising acts. As festivalgoers have come to expect, however, there is a varied set of accompanying events – and even one or two extra concerts.

At the heart of the music programme are concerts by Ibeyi, James Holden & The Animal Spirits, KOKOKO!, Dirtmusic and Alsarah & The Nubatones, along with many others.

The festivals supporting programme features a wide range of different events, including artists’ talks, a round table, fascinating lectures, an art performance, a children’s show and some additions to the concert programme.

All events in the supporting programme are free of charge, as are the three afternoon concerts we’ve arranged for this year’s festival: Ljubojna on Thursday 24 May in Tartini Square, Piran, Nadah El Shazly on Friday 25 May in the UC Švicarija garden in Ljubljana, and Les Filles de Illighadad on Saturday 26 May in the garden of Vodnikova Domačija, also in Ljubljana.

This year the festival will close with an additional concert at Layerjeva Hiša in Kranj on Sunday 27 May, where Les Filles de Illighadad will perform once again.

Tickets are still available

Festival passes and day tickets are available from Moje karte.

Free coach travel from Ljubljana to Piran (and back) on 24 May – and from Kino Šiška to Metelkova on 25 May

Like last year, festival pass holders can take advantage of free coach travel from Ljubljana to Piran (and back, of course) on Thursday 24 May. If you wish to reserve a place on the coach, please send your full name to prevoz@drugagodba.si. There will also be free buses going from Kino Šiška to Metelkova on Friday 25 May. They will be waiting at the Kino Šiška bus stop at 10.30 and 11 pm.

Opening concert with Josephine Foster and Xylouris White

Although the festival proper doesn’t kick off until Thursday 24 May, we have a special treat for you this year in the form of an opening concert, a taster if you will, on Monday 14 May in Klub CD, Cankarjev Dom. This intriguing evening will feature American folk artist Josephine Foster and the visionary Greek lute and drums combo of Xylouris White. Tickets are already on sale from Moje karte at EUR 15, although festival pass holders will be pleased to know that it’s a mere EUR 10 for them (available exclusively from the Cankarjev Dom ticket office).

You’ll find further information and updates on the festival website and Facebook page.

See you at Druga Godba!
