In 1994 Youssou'n'Dour and Neneh Cherry surprised the music community worldwide with a
beautiful pop song that became one of the most successful in the history of music. Twenty-five
years later, it still has the power to change the mood. It's gentle and full-hearted.
Youssou N'Dour performed in front of nearly 3,000 people at Druga Godba in 1998. It was an
incredible concert of Senegalese mbalax – the music style that changed Western views about
music and showed how unique and rhythmically complex can pop be.
Like Youssou, Neneh Cherry has always been at the forefront of something important, from RipRig + Panic and co-writing songs for the first Massive Attack album, to a solo career that was been occasionally and happily interrupted by collaboration with The Thing, and finally to her latest album, Broken Politics. In a few days, on Tuesday 26 February, she will return to Ljubljana to perform at Kino Šiška, to follow on from her amazing concert with The Thing at JAZZ FESTIVAL LJUBLJANA 2012.
Be there: for someone who really deserves it, for what she's done in the past and for what she's doing now. Music without Neneh Cherry wouldn't be the same thing.
