Vladimir Lenhart, aka Lenhart Tapes, (RS) is a wizard with the Walkman. Yes, that long-gone 80s symbol of musical freedom has found a new lease of life as a live instrument, as Lenhart mixes and manipulates from his weird and wonderful collection of cassettes, while laying down some of the strangest, most rackety and most propulsive beats currently to be found anywhere.
For his second album Dens (Glitterbeat, 2023), which is finding love from everyone from BBC Radio 3 to The Wire, Vladimir engaged the cream of Serbia’s female vocal talent, including classically trained violinist and singer of traditional folk Tijana Stanković. Catch this Beauty and the Beast of contemporary noise-folk at Channel Zero. Belgrade meets Ljubljana ¬– always a wild ride.
