Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and Frank Rosaly, an artistic couple with roots in Bolivia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and the USA, will discuss how they have incorporated their experience of living in the diaspora into their creative process, and how through music they explore issues of identity, belonging, and resistance. The conversation will shed light on the creation of the album Mestizx (a gender-neutral version of the sometimes ambiguous Spanish colonial term for “mixed person”), as well as the challenges and opportunities that come with creating in the diaspora.
