ALEKSANDER ARKHINCHEEV (UDU): Buryat throat-singing workshop

Slovenian Ethnographic Museum (SEM): 24 May 2022, 6 pm

Moderated by Metod Banko

Entry is open to Festival Pass holders and those with tickets for the Brina + UDU concert on 25 May.

Multi-instrumentalist Aleksander Arkhincheev, equally gifted with traditional and modern arrangements, is a virtuoso performer on the Jew’s harp, guitar, morin-khuur, sukh huur, limbe and a range of other wind instruments, as well as a master of throat-singing. He will use the workshop to explain all about this mysterious vocal technique. There will be practical exercises to familiarise you with the main throat-singing styles, such as Hoomei, Kharkhiraa and Eskhere.

The workshop will be moderated by Slovenian vocalist Metod Banko, who also uses throat-singing in his work.
