Reolô Festival Residency

Druga godba is once again extending its programme beyond Ljubljana and continuing its series of festival residencies with international artists across Slovenia. Following last year’s collaboration with the Polish group Sutari, this year’s residency welcomes the Norwegian ensemble Reolô, one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Nordic folk.

Reolô @Prva vrsta | 26 May, Radio Slovenia – First programme (live broadcast)

Reolo @Klub CD, Cankarjev dom | 27 May, Ljubljana

Reolô @Jazz Ravne | 26 May, Ravne na Koroškem
Reolô @Kulturni dom Krško | 28 May, Krško

The group will perform four times during the festival. As part of our established collaboration with Radio Slovenia’s First Programme, their residency begins on 26 May with an appearance on Prva vrsta. The concert and accompanying conversation will be broadcast live. On the same day, Reolô will perform as part of the Jazz Ravne series in Ravne na Koroškem, organised by the  Drugi zvoki Cultural Association (Robert Jamnik and Franc Kokal). The following day brings their main festival performance at Klub CD in Cankarjev dom, while the residency concludes on 28 May with a concert at the Krško Cultural Centre.

Reolô blends contemporary Norwegian folk with jazz virtuosity, with the members, including drummer Hans Hulbækmo (familiar to Druga godba audiences from the Mari Kvien Brunvoll band, Druga godba 2025), interweaving traditional playing and singing with improvisation. Their music moves from Nordic folk to African rhythms, draws from contemporary influences, creating energetic, captivating, and at times dark soundscapes. On stage, the band speaks as much to folk enthusiasts as to fans of experimental rock.
