There were lots of people in the 1990s who saw jazz as outdated and uncool, and a genre perhaps most beloved of strange white people with highly questionable taste. Fast forward to the 2010s and a new generation of jazz musicians from the UK were selling out large venues and appearing at festivals all over the world. Druga Godba was one of them, and indeed one of the first to give a stage to the driving force of the rebirth, Shabaka Hutchings, and his groups Sons of Kemet and The Comet is Coming. How did the British manage to completely renew the image of jazz in 25 years? We talk to André Marmot, the author of Unapologetic Expression, who is also an agent (Acid Arab, BCUC, Nubiyan Twist) and promoter.
The event is organised in collaboration with the Ljubljana UNESCO City of Literature office and Vodnikova Domačija.
